Paris, Day Two

March 2.

Got up at 9 and headed to "our" pasterie shop for "shatter rolls", my name for a kind of twirled up croissant. Sooo flaky. Unfortunately, they were closed. Settled for croissants and cafe au lait at a nearby bistro. Ate outside. Yum.

Hayley and I caught the metro for our bike tour. We were late, but caught up just in time. We met Jane and Cassie, a mom and daughter originally from Ireland, now living in Nice. They were swell!!

The bike tour was absolutely terrific. Highly recommend! Paris traffic is crazy and we had one or two dicey moments in a turn-about, but all in all it was grand. Can't believe they don't have you sign a release form. We saw all the major sites from the outside and got a good basic historical and geographical orientation of the city. We loved it!!!

Ann opted for a Hop on-Hop off bus tour, which she really enjoyed.

We rendezvoued at 3 and went back to the hotel for a short rest. Then jumped back on the metro to the Eiffel tower. Went up and saw the view. Breathtaking...

Walked across the Seine and to the Arc de Triumphe. Had a wonderful dinner along the way at a cute bistro with cupid paintings and mirrors all around. Ann had the best veal dish of her life and is ruined on ever having veal that grand again.

Took a self tour at the Arc. Amazing sculpture work. Took the metro home and hit the hay.
